Practical print advice

Print advice and frequently asked questions

Prepare your file and request with these practical guides. Your chosen product page remains the reference for available options and file specifications.

Go to frequently asked questions

Preparing a print-ready PDF

A print-ready PDF starts with the product you order. A flyer, envelope and brochure have different technical requirements. Choose the finished size and production options first, then check that your file matches. This avoids uncertainty between the design and the order.

Designing cards and having them printed

Making a card involves two separate choices: design and printing. You may already have a file, want to adapt a design yourself or need professional layout. Decide what the card is for first, then choose the card product and design approach that fit your plan.

Preparing a postal mailing

A postal mailing combines a message, printed material and shipping. Define whom you want to reach and what the recipient can do after reading it. Then gather the print file, addresses and practical arrangements. An email campaign is a different service and does not use a postal address as its destination.

Preparing school courses and workbooks

A useful workbook starts with a clear final version of the teaching material. Check not only the content but also readability, page order and the number of copies. The existing PrintPlaats school service supports checks, printing, finishing and delivery. Good preparation makes your request easier to assess.

Digital printing or offset printing

At PrintPlaats, you can have paper products printed digitally for smaller quantities and in offset for larger runs. Our online printing service helps match production to your project. Quantity matters, but paper, finishing and any personalised content are also part of the decision.

Which PDF specifications should I follow?

Follow your chosen product’s specifications. Finished size, bleed, page order and printable areas differ between Flyers, cards and envelopes.

  • Choose your print product

Do I need 3 mm bleed for everything?

No. The flyer page requires 3 mm when an image or background reaches the edge. Other products have their own requirements; envelopes have specific printable areas.

When should I choose digital or offset printing?

PrintPlaats supplies digital paper printing for smaller quantities and offset for larger runs. There is no single cutoff for every job: quantity, paper, finishing and personalisation help determine the suitable production options.

Does the technical file check approve my text?

Check spelling, names, dates, amounts and QR codes yourself before supplying the file. A technical print-file check does not replace your approval of the content.

  • Check the final version

Can I design my invitation in Canva?

The invitations page describes designing in Canva and then supplying your exported PDF. Canva is an external design environment. Check that the file fits your chosen card size.

Where can I have matching celebration print designed?

See the coordinated design package for professional layout in one style. The page explains design, separate printing and current package conditions.

Are folded cards delivered already folded?

The existing product is supplied flat with a crease line. You fold the cards yourself. Supply the file at the open size according to the product instructions.

  • Folded cards

How does postal mailing differ from email?

A postal mailing uses printed material and postal shipping. An email campaign sends a digital message to email addresses. Choose the service that suits your message and recipients.

  • Email campaign

How do I prepare a mailing address file?

The addressed products describe Excel, CSV or TXT with column headings. Keep address parts recognisable, avoid blank rows and check duplicates and incomplete addresses.

  • Letter in an envelope

What should I specify for a school workbook?

Supply a clear final version and state the copy quantity, preferred print options and schedule. The school service uses a personal account linked to your school; discuss special needs in advance.
